The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences restructures its M.A. program.
From 2023, instead of HSEE, GATE score will be used for admission.
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras, has restructured its existing M.A. program from 5 years to 2 years. It has also added Economics to the existing Development Studies and English Studies streams.
From 2023, the Department will offer 2-year M.A programs in Development Studies, Economics and English Studies. Each stream seeks to provide an excellent theoretical base as well as market-readiness for careers across academia, publishing, policy, governance and corporate consultancy. The Department’s interdisciplinary faculty has drawn upon its considerable experience and research to design a programme that will continue to uphold the standards set over the last many decades by IIT Madras.
There will be no HSEE after 2022. Instead of HSEE, the GATE score will be used for admission to all the streams of the 2-year M.A. programs.
